Learn how to make delicious Salted Caramel Cracker Bites. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • 40 saltine crackers (or graham crackers for a sweeter twist)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (or to taste)
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts (pecans or almonds work great)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, ensuring it covers the sides for easy clean-up.
  2. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the lined baking sheet. They should fit snugly without overlapping.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it begins to boil. Let it boil for about 3 minutes, until it thickens slightly.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the caramel mixture evenly over the crackers, using a spatula to spread it, ensuring each cracker is coated.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbly. Keep a close eye to avoid burning.
  7. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top. Let them sit for a minute to melt, then spread the chocolate evenly over the caramel layer.
  8. Sprinkle with sea salt and, if using, add chopped nuts for added texture and flavor.
  9. Allow the bites to cool completely at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to set.
  10. Once set, break into pieces and enjoy!
