Ingredients
Scale
- 12 slices of prosciutto
- 12 small mozzarella balls (bocconcini)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
- Toothpicks for securing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix the olive oil with Italian seasoning and a grind of black pepper. This step reminds me of the days in my grandmother’s kitchen when a simple mix of herbs could transform a dish.
- Wrap each mozzarella ball in a slice of prosciutto, securing it with a toothpick. This part always reminds me of wrapping gifts, each one a little bundle of joy.
- Place the wrapped mozzarella bites on the prepared baking sheet and brush them lightly with the seasoned olive oil. This step ensures they come out with a beautiful golden finish.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the prosciutto is crispy and the mozzarella is just starting to ooze. Watch closely, as you don’t want them to overcook.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool for a minute before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired, adding a fresh pop of color and flavor.
