Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup whole milk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 can (21 ounces) peach pie filling
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Warm the milk until it’s lukewarm, then combine it with melted butter and egg in a small bowl. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough begins to form.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. This process always reminds me of the patient moments in my grandmother’s kitchen, where love was the secret ingredient.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for about an hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, approximately 14×9 inches.
- Spread the peach pie filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border along the edges. Sprinkle the cinnamon and brown sugar evenly on top.
- Carefully roll the dough into a log, starting from the longer side, and slice it into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise again for about 20-30 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and the centers are cooked through.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, cream cheese, vanilla extract, and enough milk to reach your desired consistency.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls before serving. Watching the glaze melt into each roll is one of my favorite parts—it’s like the anticipation of a story’s climax.
