Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 8 slices of bacon
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 package of refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
If you’re looking to mix things up, try swapping the cheddar with a sharp gouda or adding a dash of hot sauce for a bit of heat. These little adjustments make each cook unique, much like the personal touches my grandmother taught me.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Once done, chop it into small pieces and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the ground beef, onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until the beef is browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the chopped bacon, maple syrup, and cheddar cheese. Mix until the cheese is melted and everything is well combined.
- Take each biscuit and flatten it slightly. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center, then fold the dough over the filling, pinching the edges to seal.
- Place each bomb seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush with olive oil and a light coat of egg wash for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.
As you bake these, don’t be surprised if the smell draws everyone into the kitchen, much like the way my kids would gather around, eyes wide with anticipation, whenever I tried something new.
