Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh salmon fillet, skin removed and cut into 1-inch bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons honey (substitute maple syrup for a vegan twist)
- 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce (adjust to taste for spice preference)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce (use tamari for gluten-free option)
- 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional, for a nutty aroma)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or lime juice
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- Start by patting your salmon pieces dry with a paper towel. This helps the glaze stick better and allows the salmon to sear nicely.
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, sriracha sauce, soy sauce, grated ginger, minced garlic, sesame oil, and rice vinegar. This is your vibrant glaze that will bring everything to life.
- Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the salmon bites in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 2-3 minutes without moving them—this helps form a beautiful crust.
- Flip the salmon pieces gently and pour the honey sriracha glaze over them. Reduce the heat to medium and cook for another 2-3 minutes, spooning the sauce over the salmon as it thickens and caramelizes. Keep a close eye here—salmon cooks fast and you want it tender, not dry.
- Once the salmon is cooked through and the glaze is sticky and shiny, remove the skillet from heat. Taste and season with a pinch of salt and pepper if needed.
- Transfer the salmon bites to a serving plate and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions for that fresh crunch and extra flavor.
One thing I’ve learned from years of cooking for my family is to trust your senses. If you notice the glaze getting too thick or burning, lower the heat a bit. The goal is that sticky, glossy coating that clings lovingly to every bite.
