Ingredients
- 4 boneless pork chops (about 1 inch thick)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger (or 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (optional, for a tangy kick)
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Feel free to swap out the soy sauce for tamari or coconut aminos if you’re looking for a gluten-free option. And if you’re not a huge fan of ginger, you can leave it out or reduce the amount. Cooking should be about making it your own!
Instructions
- Start by patting the pork chops dry with paper towels. This step is crucial for achieving that beautiful sear.
- Season both sides of the pork chops with salt and pepper. Don’t be shy; this is your chance to build flavor right from the start!
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully add the pork chops.
- Sear the pork chops for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and cooked through (an internal temperature of 145°F). Don’t worry if you get a little bit of a crust; that’s what we want!
- While the pork chops are cooking, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, ginger, and apple cider vinegar in a small bowl.
- Once the pork chops are cooked, lower the heat and pour the honey garlic mixture over them. Let it bubble and reduce for about 2-3 minutes, spooning the sauce over the chops to glaze them beautifully.
- Remove from heat and let the pork chops rest for a couple of minutes. This helps to keep them juicy.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving. This adds a lovely pop of color and a fresh flavor contrast!
I can’t tell you how satisfying it is to see those chops glistening in the pan. It reminds me of family dinners at my grandmother’s house, where every meal was served with love and laughter.
