Ingredients
Let’s gather everything we need. These ingredients are straightforward and probably already sitting in your pantry, waiting to transform into something special.
- 2 large sweet potatoes, scrubbed clean
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
If you’re out of oregano, thyme makes a great substitute. And for a little heat, a pinch of cayenne pepper can work wonders!
Instructions
Here’s where the magic happens! Follow these steps to create your own little piece of culinary art.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with a bit of olive oil.
- Cut the sweet potatoes into wedges. I find that cutting them lengthwise into six or eight pieces works best for even cooking.
- In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, salt, pepper, oregano, and paprika. Add the sweet potato wedges and toss until they are well-coated.
- Arrange the wedges in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Make sure they are not overcrowded, as this helps them get crispy.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, turning them halfway through. When they are golden brown and crispy on the edges, they are ready.
- Once out of the oven, sprinkle the parmesan cheese over the hot wedges. The residual heat will melt the cheese, creating a beautiful, savory crust.
- Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve immediately.
From my kitchen to yours, these wedges are a testament to the power of flavor and simplicity. They’re a frequent request at our family dinners, and I’m sure they’ll become a favorite at yours too.
