Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (85% lean for best flavor and juiciness)
- 6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Optional: chopped fresh parsley for garnish
If you prefer a twist, you can swap cheddar for pepper jack for a little heat or use turkey bacon as a leaner option. For a lower-carb version, consider wrapping the filling in large lettuce leaves instead of crescent rolls—though I do love that buttery dough for its comforting texture.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This step saves cleanup later—a lifesaver when you’re busy!
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Break it up with a spatula as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture cook for another minute to meld the flavors.
- Remove from heat and fold in the crumbled bacon and shredded cheddar cheese. Don’t be shy with the cheese—it’s what makes these rollups irresistibly gooey.
- Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean surface and gently press seams together to create one large rectangle.
- Spread the beef, bacon, and cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough up into a tight log. Pinch the edges to seal the seam.
- Slice the log into 8 equal pieces and place each rollup cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each.
- In a small bowl, mix melted butter with minced garlic. Brush the garlic butter generously over each rollup before baking.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the crescent dough is golden brown and cooked through. The aroma of garlic and butter wafting through the house is always my favorite part!
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
When I make these for my family, I love involving my kids in steps like spreading the filling and rolling the dough—it turns dinner prep into a little kitchen adventure. Plus, it’s a great way to slow down and connect after a busy day.
