Learn how to make delicious Cheesy Bolognese Gnocchi Bake. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 pound ground beef (or substitute with ground turkey for a lighter option)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pound potato gnocchi
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F. This gives you the perfect temperature for melting cheese into a golden crust.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 6-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
  5. While the sauce is simmering, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the gnocchi according to package instructions until they float to the top, about 2-3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  6. In a large baking dish, combine the cooked gnocchi with the Bolognese sauce. Stir to coat the gnocchi evenly.
  7. Top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, spreading evenly to cover the gnocchi and sauce.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh basil, if desired.
