Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (or substitute with ground turkey for a lighter option)
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 pound potato gnocchi
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. This gives you the perfect temperature for melting cheese into a golden crust.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 6-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
- While the sauce is simmering, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the gnocchi according to package instructions until they float to the top, about 2-3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large baking dish, combine the cooked gnocchi with the Bolognese sauce. Stir to coat the gnocchi evenly.
- Top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, spreading evenly to cover the gnocchi and sauce.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh basil, if desired.
