Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- 1/4 cup dill pickle relish
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 package egg roll wrappers (about 12-14)
- 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Feel free to substitute ground turkey for the beef if you’re looking for a leaner option. You can also experiment with different cheeses like Monterey Jack or even a spicy pepper jack for an extra kick!
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. This should take about 6-8 minutes.
- Add the chopped onions to the skillet and cook until they are soft and translucent, approximately 4-5 minutes.
- Stir in the cheddar cheese, dill pickle relish, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until the cheese is melted and everything is well combined. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with one corner pointing towards you, like a diamond. Spoon about 3 tablespoons of the beef mixture onto the center of the wrapper.
- Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll tightly. Brush the top corner with the beaten egg to seal. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the egg rolls in batches, frying them until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels and let them cool slightly before serving.
