Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups cooked rice
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish
If you’re out of beef broth, chicken broth works in a pinch, adding a slightly different but equally delightful flavor. And for those who prefer a lighter option, ground turkey is a great substitute for beef.
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter until it begins to foam. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the pan, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes.
- Season the beef with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, stirring to combine.
- Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, allowing the mixture to come to a gentle simmer. Let it cook for about 10 minutes, reducing slightly to create a rich sauce.
- Meanwhile, prepare your rice according to package instructions or use leftover rice to save time. I often use jasmine or basmati rice for a fragrant touch.
- To serve, spoon the beef mixture over the rice in a bowl, garnishing with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and freshness.
One thing I love about this recipe is its versatility. I often find myself adding a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for a bit of heat or a handful of spinach to sneak in some greens.
